Obituary for Joseph Barany

Joseph Barany, Jr., 90, of Elizabethtown, KY, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Elizabethtown.

MSG Barany retired from the US Army after 23 years of service. He served in the World War II era and was a combat veteran of Korea and the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of the Main Post Chapel on Ft. Knox, a member of Hodgenville Masonic Lodge, CBR Young # 132, Camp Knox Order of Eastern Star, DAV Elizabethtown Chapter #3 and the Sojourners.

He is survived by his four sons, Gilbert Barany (Mary) of Milton, KY, Myron Barany (Tracie) of Trussville, AL, Raymond Barany (Grace Ann) of Elizabethtown and Ralph Barany (Debra) of Owensboro, KY; six grandchildren, Jonathon, Jennifer, Janelle, Heather, Eric and Gloria; and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff, KY with Rev. Mike Lewis officiating. An Eastern Star Service and Masonic service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
