Scam Alert 

One of our families has been approached, by telephone, asking for a payment to cover liabililty insurance to allow people to be on funeral home property for the service.  The caller claimed to be from Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home and the funeral home name was on their caller ID.  The caller stated that during the time of arrangmements, this charge had failed to be mentioned.  They wanted immediate payment for that charge over the telephone.

Another funeral home in the area experienced a similar scam.  Again, someone identified themself as working at that funeral home, called a family member of a deceased person asking for payment, over the telephone, for an unpaid balance.  The deceased actually had a service at a different funeral home.
